New Year’s Day

A really tasty-looking three-layer cake!

If you read this before 6 A.M. on New Year’s Day, you’re probably a) up too late, and b) apparently tired of talking to all the people with whom you spent the last few hours.

Why not just go to sleep? After all, nothing changes on New Year’s Day. Oh, yes, you might have to go home first.

Besides, 1 January is an arbitrary date. It could as easily be 1 February, 12 December, or 15 March. Try telling the Chinese and the Persians “Happy New Year.” They never celebrate it on the first day of the month, so they’ll probably look at you as if you’re an idiot.

Please note: The Flying News will be closed from 12:00 A.M. to 12:01 A.M. today in observance of the New Year.
